Grant Parish Official Contacts
The right contact depends on the question. The sheriff's administrative office handles general and non-emergency business. GPSO identifies its Criminal Division as the place for filing an initial police report and obtaining criminal records. The detention facility handles information about people held there, bail and bonds, and visitation. Call 911 for an emergency or a crime in progress.

The GPSO facility page is the preferred source for the detention number. A state directory lists a different general local-jail number, so callers should try the GPSO facility-specific line first and verify any changed contact with the sheriff.
Requesting Booking Records
GPSO requires a formal public-record request in writing by U.S. Mail. Address it to the Custodian of Records, Grant Parish Sheriff's Office, P.O. Box 187, Colfax, Louisiana 71417. Name the person, give a narrow date range, and identify the existing booking summary, photograph, or other record sought. GPSO says a request sent another way is not deemed received.
The published charges include $3 per photograph, $35 for the first ten document pages and $1 for each later page, plus listed audio, video, disc, and postage costs when applicable. Ask for a cost estimate and the record in the format maintained. No guaranteed booking-photo response time is published, and legal exemptions or redactions may apply.
Court and Custody Routes
A jail contact can address current local custody, but it cannot supply the final outcome of a criminal case. The Grant Parish Clerk of Court handles criminal minute and imaging records, while the 35th Judicial District Court publishes schedules that may change. State and federal custody also require separate systems.
- Grant Parish Clerk of Court: 200 Main Street, Colfax, LA 71417; 318-627-3246; Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Use the Clerk for filed charges, minutes, and disposition.
- 35th Judicial District Court: 200 Main Street, Colfax; 318-627-3244. A docket is a schedule, not custody proof.
- Louisiana DPS&C: use its inmate-information instructions and LA VINE for a sentenced state prisoner or participating custody notification.
- Federal Bureau of Prisons: use the official BOP locator for a person in federal prison. Federal pretrial matters may require the U.S. Marshals Service.
- ICE: use the official detainee locator only when immigration custody is actually indicated.
Choose the Right Starting Point
The Grant Parish booking-record search explains how to move from an arrest report to a custody check, written jail request, and court result. For a same-day question, call the detention facility because no verified live official Grant roster is available. LA VINE can provide participating custody and release notifications, but it is not a complete mugshot source.
Use Colfax Police, Montgomery Police, Dry Prong Police, GPSO, or another named arresting agency for its own incident report. Ask GPSO for the jail booking item. Use the Clerk for the final disposition. A news story or third-party entry may help identify a date, but neither can establish guilt or current custody. Every arrested person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
